The good, the bad and the curious of Yuletide music.

This might just be my favourite of all entries in this year's Advent Calendar. The magnificent Anita Kerr Singers sang back-up for many artists, perhaps primarily in Nashville in the early 1960s, but also recorded a number of albums in their own right.
If I got this right, What Month Was Jesus Born In? was originally an African-American spiritual, that found its way onto the American folk music circuit; it seems the most well-known recording was by Odetta. The Anita Kerr Singers' brilliantly arranged and performed version can be found on their 1969 Christmas album, Spend This Holiday With Me.

Or listen on Spotify, where I've created a playlist for this year's Advent Calendar.
The Spotify playlist for all the previous Advent Calendars is here. Note: The playlist is incomplete, as some of my calendar selections are just too obscure for Spotify.
The Anita Kerr Singers' Christmas album features this brilliant track.
