Books about ABBA and related subjects

ABBA biographies, musical examinations and pictorial surveys

New and expanded features

published January 21, 2015

The crowdfunding campaign for the revised, updated and expanded edition of ABBA - The Complete Recording Session ran between 9 March and 9 April, 2015. In many ways, the book is completely different from the original 1994 edition. The diary/chronicle format of the original book was retained, of course, but those "diary entries" were expanded, and there are also added features that weren't in the original book.

EXPANDED ORIGINAL FEATURES

More facts and stories about ABBA’s recorded work: released as well as unreleased songs and alternate mixes - observations from hours and hours of listening will be shared in the book.

More observations and insights into the writing and structuring of the songs - new information that has come to light since the book was first published will be incorporated into the book, along with previously untold stories, anecdotes and details.

More insights from Björn and Benny - ABBA's songwriting and production team has agreed to answer a limited number of questions for this updated edition.

More comments from other people who were involved in ABBA’s recordings - several of the musicians I didn't have the time to cover last time have been interviewed for this new volume.

New: Sidebars (separate articles) focusing on various aspects related to ABBA’s music. The main addition here are five extensive essays, detailing ABBA's methods in creating their music. They are as follows:

Writing the tunes

Writing the lyrics

Recording the backing tracks

Recording the vocals

Overdubbing and mixing
