ABBAWORLD
Published August 30, 2010
ABBAWORLD is the travelling ABBA exhibition and interactive experience that opened in London in January 2010 and then continued to Melbourne, Sydney, Györ (Hungary) and Prague. It is currently expected to find a permanent home in Stockholm in 2012, near the Gröna Lund amusement park.
ABBAWORLD had a long gestation period, being first announced as ABBA - The Museum in 2006 before finally morphing into ABBAWORLD. The exhibition part of ABBAWORLD features a journey through the story of ABBA, aided by original artefacts own or worn by ABBA themselves, such as their legendary costumes. The interactive part consists of video quizzes, karaoke-style sing-along-with-ABBA booths, and the opportunity to perform onstage with a holographic cartoon version of the group.
My contribution to ABBAWORLD was to write the biographical texts, which are also read by actor Stellan Skarsgård in the audioguide, as well as picture captions for the many photographs displayed throughout the exhibition. I also helped out with a bit of fact-checking here and there.
